As we have searched for the vacation getaway cabin of our dreams, we came across way too many examples of properties that combined the rustic decor we craved, but needed just a tad of updating, cleaning, or downright demolition to be livable.
We coined the term “Crustic” to describe these properties, these rooms, and the overall decor. Remember that these photos are public and were posted to attempt to sell these properties.
So, in your next home search, think of Crustic right next to contemporary, country, rustic, or traditional in your home decor and design styles.

As we searched across the Northwoods of Wisconsin, for for a relaxing cabin in the woods, what we found was the basis for the word we termed as "Crustic." Consider it a healthy amount of crustiness added to a rustic base for a stew of "What were they thinking?" The photos here are from actual real estate listings attempting to sell these treasures.
